A bit about inventor...

“My wish is to make plastic bottles economy as environment friendly as the earthen pots. The answer lies in the word ‘circular’.”

– Utkarsha Patil,

Inventor of ReBottle

Story of the invention

Utkarsha used to celebrate the ceremonies with joy. But she remained stunned during her sister’s wedding, by seeing the piles of waste plastic bottles… Huge piles of plastic bottles were too big to be transported by garbage truck… Front side of the resort was very pleasant, but the backend was disgusting: demonstrating dumping & burning the wastes.

She realized severity of these waste bottles… It was just a resort, what about other places in world where packaged water is used in similar scale…

Utkarsha got motivated to search for solution to this challenge by herself. And she began the journey of developing the separating and recycling bin for waste bottles at the source.

Soon she invented the Rebottle. She also appeared in a popular television show ‘The Inventor Challenge’ streamed on colors infinity. She further developed Rebottle on her own and proceed to file the patent.

The motivation and goal...

My wish is to make plastic bottles economy as environment friendly as the earthen pots. Earthen pots are considered environmentally most safe things, because each pot gets recycled in earth upon dumping. I think, similar scenario is possible with plastic bottles. If collection and separation of polymers happen at the source, and handling becomes effortless, then each bottle can be recycled directly upon dumping in Rebottle bin.
